Skin Healing Frozen Blueberry Smoothie

This smoothie is packed with nutrients and anti-inflammatory coumponants. Drinking it regularly will help you to improve your gut and skin health.


Ingredients:

1 unripe banana (yellow with a bit of green)

3/4 cups of frozen blueberries

1-2 cups of water (depending on the consistency you like)

2 tablespoons of flaxseeds

1 teaspoon of milk thistle

1 tablespoon of raw honey (optional)

1 tablespoon of psyllium husk (a great source of fibre)

1 tablespoon of dried turmeric + pinch of black pepper


Directions:

Pop it all into your high-speed blender and enjoy as a very healthy drink or plate it up as a smoothie bowl. For this option simply decorate with other fruits, nuts, chia seeds and/or sugar-free, gluten-free granola!

 

SIDE NOTES:

Unripe bananas are a great source of resistant starch which feeds our good gut bacteria.

Freezing blueberries increases the concentration of anthocyanins, which are natural anti-inflammatory agents.

Raw honey (not pasteurised) is full of inflammation-fighting antioxidants and has anti-bacterial properties.
